We have 3 grandchildren, 3 years old and younger (1 set - twins). Whenever we went out to eat, they were given small cups with lids and regular straws. The straws protrude so far from the cups that they either have to hold the cups close to drink or, more likely, tip the cup over the table to get to the straw. and the top will leak (if it stays at all). Now that we have these scissors on hand, we cut the straw so that it protrudes just about an inch above the lid of the mug. Now they can reach the straw without taking the cup off the table or when they want to hold the cup it doesn't have to be lowered so low.
