Review on Starrett KTX12 12ME N Precision Measuring Instrument with Enhanced Graduation Intervals by Tyler Spencer

Seems to be a reliable tool. It's a little thicker than I expected (1 1/16 inches without the clip, although the band is only 1/2 inch wide) and the case isn't as bright red as the photo shows. (It doesn't stand out as much as the optical yellow it replaced.) Sure, it's spring-loaded to retract the band once you release the brake. I was taught not to let the tape feed all the way to the end at full speed as it gets very sticky to the hook. I will continue to show this concern. However, this hook stops on a rubber pad, which may be enough to prevent damage.
