I have a Jeep and drive it off-road. That means I spend all day bouncing around in the hot sun until everything gets dusty and dirty. I once watched the plastic mount on my Garmin "fixed" mount go from rigid to semi-rigid as my GPS slowly settled off the dashboard and onto the floor. Yes, it was hot outside. Now I have a new Jeep and wasn't sure where I wanted my GPS permanently installed. There had to be an interim solution, but to be honest I didn't think anything would work. I wanted to mount a GPS navigation system on the windshield, but I didn't think anything would withstand all those jumps and all the temperature changes. God, how wrong I was! I have attached and removed this RAM Mount to my windshield dozens of times to clean a dusty and dirty windshield. When it's on, it never moves. Is always. The way the suction cup works is awesome. You attach it with a regular suction cup and then twist the lever on the base to push the inside of the suction cup away from the glass, making it stick even tighter. Not sure if it could be torn off without releasing the lever again. In addition, you can rotate the mount in all directions to put it in the right position. This puts the GPS exactly where I want it, not where another company wants it. Excellent! Before purchasing, I contacted RAM Mount for advice prior to the sale. They were very helpful. I will continue to buy brackets and mounts from RAM Mount. I am really impressed!
