To quote West Marine, "Best for bonding oily woods and other materials. "

G/flex is an amazing material, I have a lot of experience and sometimes I buy in bulk from one of the factories in Australia. I just noticed that the current price is a bit cheaper. Compared to the prices listed on West System's website, there are definitely some deals on Amazon, especially with free shipping. I contacted West Marine factories a long time ago and they recommended g/flex specifically for oily woods and steel. It also holds wood together very well, it's stronger than wood grain bonds and when hit with a hammer the wood always breaks before the g/flex bond. Also you have a great run time, it gets a bit thick at around 20 minutes but I always work in climates above 85 degrees sometimes 100 degrees so other people might have more time. It can be sanded for 24 hours (or overnight in my experience), but West Marine recommends a full 48 hours for full strength. I had some skin allergies while working with this, but it could also be due to wood dust or hot weather. of course it doesn't help. It's best to work outdoors, keep your nose away from this stuff and wear gloves as it's almost impossible to get rid of your hands before it's hardened. It's easier after hardening, but then skin dermatitis begins. I use it for gluing steel and wood and it cures to a semi-elastic yellow. Wood and steel are best wiped down with 70% alcohol and allowed to air dry before use. It sands fairly easily but tends to clog sanding belts. It doesn't get brittle like the Devcon 2 clay. There is so much to say, but I hope this information helps. If anyone found a good way to get this off their skin while it's still "hot" please let me know. Even last time, excess epoxy can be used to coat all types of outdoor handles such as spade handles, pickaxes, hoes, etc. Simply wipe the stem with wax paper. If you always have some left over, in a few months all your tools will be half fiberglass!
