I bought the clear ones and put one on the table in front of my computer where I usually eat. It's not transparent but slightly "foggy" - it looks good on my wood desktop. It's nice and thick but also quite soft so it lays flat and doesn't warp (unlike some polyester rugs I've tried). At the same time, it is very durable and appears to be impervious to scratches and cracks. Plus, it stays where you put it and doesn't slip at all - you have to pick it up to move it. Another plus is that it's nice and quiet - it doesn't ring when you put china and glassware on it. One reviewer describes them as "dust magnets," and there's some truth to that. They collect dust and hair and you can't just brush them off; However, the surface is easy to clean with a damp cloth. Daily rubbing seems to do the trick. I assume that these carpets will accompany me for many years to come.
