UPDATE! I've only used this 5 or more times. The first two times everything was fine. However when I use it in conjunction with my Excalibur I see that it lasts much longer. I used both of my dehydrators last week and found them not working. My mother and I started smiling at the smell of burning like burning wires. I plucked it immediately and when I get the wholesale fee it will be thrown. I'm sorry for giving it such high marks before, but I have to admit that I haven't used it with my other dehydrator. Now I'll take another Excalibur. Yes, they are loud, but what the heck. They work great UPDATE UPDATE I gave it another try today before throwing it away. Man, the smell of burning plastic was almost instantaneous. I quickly unplugged it and started to fold it up when my hand touched the top of the device. It was very hot. Unbelievable. I survived a fire and if I had chosen to use it at night on the last try, maybe my mom and I would have done it. I don't want to think about it. I bought another Excalibur because I like to do as much dehydration as possible in one session. I already have one and have never had any problems with it. Yes, they're loud and there are no frills, but maybe that's the problem with digital. Too many bells and whistles to fail. I had two other brands of dehydrators and got rid of them for other reasons but will stick with my Excaliburs.
