All in all a good monitor for home use. There are better ones, but the price is worth considering. I bought it because I wanted to view larger text files - so far it's doing its job well. Text is crisp and the larger size makes it easier for me to read and multitask at the same time. Perhaps a similar arrangement could be achieved with two smaller monitors, as in my office, but I don't like split screens. My old monitor was 27 inches. This also worked well for many years, but as my eyes changed I started to strain myself more when reading texts. Because I do a lot of writing and editing, among other things, I often have more than one full-size page open at a time. The problem was that larger monitors without higher resolutions weren't necessarily an improvement. Yes, they enlarged the images, but then the text became less readable. A higher-resolution 4K monitor closes this gap. Pros: 1) Sharp images and text - I can play a 4K movie in a window and have plenty of room for other apps. 2) Decent refresh rate - for video gamers. No doubt there will be issues, but for normal business use and all but the most complex graphics it's fine. 3) No dead pixels or screen reflections - I've been using the monitor for a while, but of course these flaws often don't show up right away. The Bad: 1) Color rendering seems a bit different than on my old non-Samsung monitor. Colors tend towards the blue part of the spectrum. I can still experiment with the settings to see if I get warm. 2) The display stand is not adjustable and does not rotate. That's a bigger problem than it looks because it's actually in a computer cabinet with fixed shelves. Yes, I can raise an office chair, but this is the first monitor I've had that can't be easily raised or lowered on the stand. 3) Physical buttons are uncomfortable. There's a round dial on the back that's hard to reach (especially since the monitor doesn't swivel either). The HDMI and power connectors are on the opposite side. . . which is inconvenient as the cable entry in my showcase as well as the outlet are the opposite of that. Since the power cord is short, I actually have to use an extension cord to plug it in. So if you can live with those limitations, some of which are specific to my furniture and my den, this is good value for money. by price. Time will tell how long this lasts. I have sworn by Samsung TVs for the last 10 years, but a newer TV had major display issues due to a long purple 'cloud' at the top of the screen. I suspect that because the TV is so paper thin, the screen buckled under its own weight and deformed that part. It's too early to tell if this monitor, which has similar proportions, will do the same. Samsung seems to be using cheaper parts and components in recent years, so I may have to update this review in a few months.
