WHEN is a water pump NOT a water pump?

NO this special. When is a water pump NOT a water pump? When he gets too smart for his own wheel. I have a previous pump from their subsidiary called Water Tec (I'm told they have taken that company into Flotec). He's been working in the basement for about 5 years - turns it on - checks the water pumps - turns off the water - like he's supposed to do. So when it came time to buy another pump I tracked down this company only to find Flotec with their Intellipump model as a successor. I bought a pump through Revain from one of their vendors. I put it in the same spot as the previous pump and it turns on and pumps like I expected for a while. The place to be pumped is not wet all year round, only in autumn for about 3 weeks and then in spring and ONLY in heavy rain. The pump was commissioned on 06/10/2016 and I had no more problems until the end of the year. Until a month ago it was discovered that it no longer works. I have no idea how long it has been out of service as I have had no water in my basement to date. I called warranty service in Wisconsin and spoke to a guy named David and that's what they told me. Yes, we GUARANTEE the pump for 2 years if you return it with receipt but will only replace it with a new pump. No credit to Revain account. WHY? Because Revain is NOT an authorized Flotec dealer. Specifically, according to David, they are an unauthorized dealer. But it's getting better. I explained to David how I use this pump and he immediately told me that this is NOT the recommended use for this type of pump. He went on to say that this is ONLY a UTILITY pump, NOT a sump. The obvious difference is that the sump pump is designed for high duty cycle operation. In fact, there is a clearly visible label on the RIGHT side of the pump body to indicate that it is a POLE/UTILITY PUMP. The service life and duty cycle (turn-on and turn-off times expressed as a percentage) are less than 1%. Hardly a scooter. David argues that leaving the pump connected to the network at all times is abuse of the pump. It is "designatedโ€ to be commissioned when the need is identified. Like AFTER the damn basement floods and you take that pump to pump out the water. That's the dumbest excuse I've ever heard from tech. The instruction manual clearly states that the machine will "turn on and check for water" and turn off if nothing is displayed. WHAT IS SO DIFFICULT ABOUT IT? a subtle but false impression given by the marketing department, which specifically advertises these pumps to "control" rising water levels and turn them on. How can you "control" when this thing is NOT plugged in? Obviously the 'patented' presence of the water monitoring mechanism isn't all it can be, and those things fail pretty quickly. I HATE saying this, but it's true, they are NOT doing them right. Stay away from THIS pump unless you intend to use it as a backup for your aquarium. Even then I would be very suspicious.
