These are my first headphones in this price range so I don't know how they compare to the more expensive ones but I know they sound fantastic. The sound is open and natural. I followed another reviewer's recommendation to remove the grill backing and wow. I had to take them off to check I wasn't actually listening to external speakers. The sound opened up even more. I ended up reattaching the grilles, but first I removed the fabric covering (it comes off instantly) so that the openness is maintained and I don't have to worry about exposed wires. Everything people said about the original cable is true - pure rubbish. I appreciate that they sent a second, different cable that sounded much better, but I ended up buying my own, which sounded slightly better and longer.
