Review on 💧 Gates Premium Engine Water Pump - Model 43063 by Jimmy Jefferson

To save a few bucks I decided to replace the water pump on my Mercury Sable. I should point out that before attempting this, make sure you have all the necessary parts and tools on hand. I didn't do that back then and had to constantly buy other items, which made the job even more difficult. I chose the top transfer as I didn't like going off the car onto the ramps. After a few days I finally got to the old pump, removed it, and then painstakingly removed as much of the old gasket material as possible. This pump was installed with a gasket and a small amount of sealant just to keep it in place on the pump. The installation went well, but until the job was complete I didn't know how well or badly the new pump would perform. I'm sorry to say that even with the first gallon of water added to the radiator, the water seeped through the pump like a strainer. I don't recommend anyone doing this unless they have the right tools and access. Pneumatic or electric tools would be a godsend instead of the manual ones I've used and I have a feeling you really need a machine on a hoist to be properly accessible. Your mileage may vary, but my experience hasn't been very good.
