FITS 2003 TAURUS 3.0L OHV. GASKET INCLUDED. METALWORK. ALL IS WELL.

For 2003 Ford Taurus with 3.0 liter V6 OHV engine. The seal is there. Metal impeller. Looks like a quality device. I've only been using it for a few months with a teenage driver at the wheel. Will be updated if it fails. So far, so good!

Pros
  • Good product for its price
Cons
  • Clarity

Great part for the price. But first check the source of the leak

The price cannot match the quality. Arrived quickly and well packaged. Make sure the water pump is leaking/worn, not the timing case gasket. The coolant hole at the back of the engine is the part of the gasket that typically wears out over time. When I replaced the timing cover gasket, I found that the timing cover itself was punctured and corroded and beyond repair, requiring a much more expensive repair than I originally anticipated. Once there, replace the timing chain and gear set. It's…

It's always been a good name (Gates)

The water pump was a good brand and once worth the money. Now it looks like the Chinese have bought the name. The box was poorly protected and the seal was abandoned. The gasket had to be sealed in a cardboard blister to retain its shape and impact resistance, especially at this size. . The pump was only installed to be taken apart again, not only for the seal but also because the casting of the mating surfaces where the pump body meets the seal was uneven and uneven throughout, a really dirty…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance

  • I don't remember

Poor quality for engine cooling and air conditioning

Works well so far (2 months, 3000 miles). No problems installing. *Update* Had a five star rating. Now a one star rating. I pulled the drive belt on my 2007 Ford Taurus to check for intermittent squeaks. The alternator bearing squeaked when hot, but I checked all the other pulleys as well. The pulley bolted to this Gates water pump wobbled nearly 3/16 of an inch. The bearing has absolutely been REMOVED and I'm amazed he hasn't removed the seal yet. I replaced the factory water pump with this…

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • I have no negative feelings about it, everything is fine

To save a few bucks I decided to replace the water pump on my Mercury Sable. I should point out that before attempting this, make sure you have all the necessary parts and tools on hand. I didn't do that back then and had to constantly buy other items, which made the job even more difficult. I chose the top transfer as I didn't like going off the car onto the ramps. After a few days I finally got to the old pump, removed it, and then painstakingly removed as much of the old gasket material as…
