Review on Unlocked AMD Ryzen 7 3700X: 8-Core,16-Thread Processor with Wraith Prism LED Cooler - Perfect for Your Desktop Needs! by Jeremy Yuusuf

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It makes no sense to buy 3800x

TL;DR: A really good and stable processor for all workloads and games. Still has a good stable stock clock speed of around 4.2GHz with a nice cooler, about the same as the 3800x without the extra $$$. Be careful with the motherboard you buy as updating the BIOS on x470 and earlier boards to support AMD 3rd Gen processors can be problematic. Turbo up to 4392MHz. The stable 4.2GHz all-core clock is about the same as the 3800x (according to other reviewers), but the 3800x has a slightly higher sporadic single-core peak, but it's probably the extra $70 for the not worth the tiny difference in performance. I have a Phanteks PH-TC14PE (comparable to nh-d15) and during the 30 minute Aida 64 (image) stress test the 3700x stays at an average of 85c and 4070MHz. Trouble swapping the CPU on the b450 or x470 board for the BIOS update (and I saved $70 vs 3800x). Some of these boards have flash flashing capabilities, but when they don't, it's time consuming and a bit painful to simply install an old 2nd or 1st generation processor, upgrade, and then reseat the new processor install and verify that it actually works. Additionally, several Ryzen 3xxx-compatible B450 boards were announced out-of-the-box through May 20, 2019, but no one knows exactly when. was necessary for it to work smoothly (your actual experience may vary). Nothing but buttery soft after reinstallation.

Pros
  • 8 cores and 16 threads bundled with AMD Wraith Prism cooler with color adjustable LED support
Cons
  • Fade Out
