Make sure you know what you are getting

This Simpson product is part number RTC2Z and I am sure it will work for some applications but you should be aware that this is a reduced part is. The original 2x4 corner brace that some workbench plans are based on is no longer manufactured by Simpson. The product, which is almost identical to the original Simpson part, is made by USP Connectors. On the attached photo USP TTC24-TZ (left) and Simpson RTC2Z (right). The TTC24-TZ's arms are 7 inches (measured from the outer corner) compared to the RTC2Z's 5-5/8 inches. The TTC24-TZ is 5 inches tall. The RTC2Z is 4-1/8 inches tall. TTC24-TZ is attached with 20 screws. The RTC2Z is attached with 12 screws. The TTC24-TZ weighs 168g The RTC2Z weighs 107g They appear to be forged from the same steel. Both are available in (several) large stores near me. The TTC24-TZ costs a few bucks more, but you're clearly getting more reliable hardware that helps keep your build flat and overall stronger.
