It's convenient but you should use MacGiver unless you really want a big bread. I took some unused CDs and wrapped them in plastic wrap. Putting this "bag" in front of the bread will make the slices much thinner, which is what I want. I just leave boxed CDs stacked in this thing for easy access. If you use 1-3 CDs or similar you can get good discs of the desired thickness. I usually love 1.5 pounds and they fit great. A 2 pound loaf might be too big to fit in. The plastic is pretty crappy and you have to hold the bread when you cut it, which sounds easier than it actually is. However, I get nice, thin slices of Cuisinart bread, much better than I could do by hand.
