I bought this to replace my broken old Philips Voice Tracer. In a generation of products between the last one I bought and this one, Philips has greatly improved their product. The three microphones are even more sensitive than before, the body is much stronger polished metal, it's lighter, slimmer and the display is now in colour. an idea of what "Sensitivity Level 5" is or exactly *how* "Autozoom Sensitivity" works. The batteries are built in and cannot be removed, so they need to be charged. Previous voice tracers came with removable, rechargeable AAA cells. So if you ran out of batteries and you were in the field, you could always add a few new batteries. However, the battery life on this thing is over 24 hours, as I accidentally found out by accidentally leaving a record for almost a day and a half. The product documentation states 50 hours. I haven't actually tested this, but it wouldn't surprise me on a full charge. My few subtleties are minor. I'm totally addicted to Philips and I can't imagine ever buying another brand's microrecorder or pocket recorder. This device is very impressive, the recorder feels solid, it records very well - even through clothing - and is a definite improvement over its already impressive old voice tracers.
