We have been camping together for 40 years and for the last 14 years we have camped mostly in the state forests. This means we rarely have power to use the TV that was in our caravan. Of course, we never really cared if we had a TV or not, unless the weather was rough. Cell phone signals are spotty at best, but often we don't have any signal at all unless we get out of camp and drive for a while. After last year's tornado (which we didn't find out about until the next day when we left the campground and saw road closures and fallen trees everywhere) we made getting a good 12 volt TV a priority. The only thing I really looked at when making my selection was the price. We already knew this brand since we had them in our motorhome. We had no problems with this, although we have taken this van several times to scattered locations accessible via two routes. This TV has withstood all the knocks and bumps it took to get into storage. The sound from a 12 volt TV isn't as loud as a 120 volt TV, but we just plug it in through our stereo, which is essential if you're going to be playing DVDs anyway. All in all, this TV has a decent picture and can withstand any road trip.
