I never understood why people write reviews about the smell of things. . now I understand it unfortunately. I put this collar on my poor dog as soon as he replaced his old one. After a while, when she snuggled up to me, I was dismayed because it smelled like she was in nail polish remover. I've now washed it without rinsing and Green Dawn Natural Dishwashing Liquid and with regular conditioner with no success. I will send it to be washed with bleach, but after that it will be returned if the smell does not go away. If it smells to us, it's 10,000 times stronger to our animals. This item is useless to any caring owner if the smell doesn't come out.
