I bought this product to measure the temperature of a stove. Box opened, battery tab pulled out, battery inserted. No instruction required, operation is basically self-explanatory.1. Ice cream measured at 25°F.2. Measured gas burner plate at 350+°F.3. The skin was measured at 98 degrees Fahrenheit. The next day I tried to turn it on but the power kept cutting out. Checked battery, reinserted battery. I noticed that the screen says 'CAL', assuming this means the device is calibrating itself. Tried to measure again and every object, hot or cold, is within 78 degrees Fahrenheit or 81 degrees Fahrenheit. So I went back and read the manual cover to cover. Nowhere was the calibration function mentioned or how to recalibrate it. Checked the voltage of the 9 volt battery with a voltmeter, checked. Then tries to let the battery out of the device until some internal memory resets, although the manual does NOT say so. The same problems. The device was manufactured in August 2019. Made in China. Many give the product 4-5 stars but mine is useless. I'd rather give my money to a complete stranger. Cheated again, dissatisfied.
