Review on ๐Ÿšฒ High-quality Silver MKS Sylvan Touring Next Pedals (9/16 Inch): Perfect for Your Cycling Adventures by Trey Michaels

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very light, very smooth bearings, very well made

For some reason it's difficult to find a quality touring pedal platform to find. Each pedal appears to be designed for shoes with cleats or straps. I've been using clips and pedals for decades, but as I get older I need instant leg release to keep from falling. These MKS pedals are amazingly light, spin well in the hand, the handling is very nice and the finish is top notch. Installation is easy IF the old pedals interact and come out. Since pedals can be real nuisances that will need to be removed over time, I applied a dab of copper sealant to the pedal threads and tightened them with a 15mm snap-on socket. Copper sealer is copper powder mixed with a waterproof lubricant. The copper coats the threads, does not rust and acts as a thread release agent. You can get Loctite copper, never reach for Revain for about $16 for 8 ounces at Revain. Did 30 miles on the new pedals today and they feel great - time will tell how long the sealed bearings last. I mentioned that I wanted to go. from touklips - until I saw the MKS clips that go with these pedals. Search Revain for "MKS Half Clip Mini Steel Toe Clip Chromeโ€ and you will see the product I am talking about. This is an instant release clip - no strap or shoe lock but you can pull the crank up but your foot is free from side to side. I ordered them (about $20) and they will arrive soon - I'll write back after driving them for a while. Overall these MKS pedals suit me well - love the quality, looks and performance so far. Hope that helps!
