UPDATED REVIEW: Transmission & Transmission

UPDATED REVIEW: After posting a 1 star negative review I should have endured weeks of noise in my new CV joint before work. several kilometers a day, and the drive shafts were changed at the weekends. But before the weekend the noise stopped. So I drove on to see what might develop. I've already driven about 15,000 km, but there is no noise and vibration. I am now diagnosing this hard grease on my diff output shaft due to the extremely cold North Dakota winter weather. I think the stiffness of the cold grease wouldn't allow the CV joint to move apart in corners like it should, and seizing provoked noise; it's not the drive shaft, it's cold thickened grease. TIP: Use a calcium-based lube instead of a lithium-based lube to reduce output shaft stiffness in cold weather where the constant shaft slides. And I can surmise that maybe some tinkering with new tolerances helped, because on cold days the problem never reappeared after the original situation mentioned in my original review. So I'm updating my review and giving it a 5 star rating. FIRST CHECK: After only 5,000 miles, the internal CV joint was sloppy and noisy. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a refurbished part but presented as NEW. Having worked with cars for 48 years, I know how stupid it is to use cheap, low quality parts. I always pay extra and look for quality parts. I often use genuine dealer parts when needed to ensure I'm getting quality so I can only do the job once and be done with it. I know all the complaints about Cardone Remanufactured parts but since this is presented as new I took a chance. Only 5,000 miles is really pathetic mileage. It's unforgivable. My mileage is under the warranty period, but the period has expired, so there is no warranty. But I wouldn't install this brand again anyway. Rubber boots are all intact. The outer joint seems fine, but the inner joint on this shaft now has a lot of play after only 5000 miles. By the way, the original Mopar shaft has clocked up 137,000 miles.

Pros
  • Excellent Overall Performance
Cons
  • Not Everything Fits
