Review on HOMBYS Luxurious Oversized Comforter Hypo Allergenic by Christine Zuniga

I've been looking for an inexpensive large blanket or blanket for several years. I've returned a couple of poor quality ones and almost gave up trying to find anything decent for less than a few hundred dollars. I've had this Hombys blanket in my "for later" basket for a few years now. When it recently went on sale I thought it was time to try it. I confess when I saw the size of the package that this blanket came in I was disappointed. It was no bigger than my husband's briefcase. When I saw that it was sealed tightly in a vacuum pack, I felt some relief. I once vacuum packed 6 large volleyball sized pillows so there was hope. As I cut the seal, I saw it take a deep breath and expand significantly. Surprisingly, after it was tightly closed, there was very little feather smell. I've switched to feather comforters and pillows, which are so thick you can smell them without even taking them out of the packaging. I spread them out on my bed and gave them a good shake a few times. He kept fluffing, and not a single feather flew out! By bedtime there was no smell at all and he was handsome and plump, if still a little wrinkled. High quality cotton material with little clear noise when moving. In my experience, this is normal with lint protection and decreases with use/cleaning. The filler is evenly distributed in the seams of the box, which is also very well done. As in the third photo, you can see a dark feather here and there through the fabric, but I'm planning on getting a duvet cover anyway, so that doesn't bother me. I found a seam that had a stitched area (last photo). To my satisfaction, I was able to trim the excess threads on both sides so that no points were lost. The gray border is pleasant to the touch and well made. But what I like most about this product is the size. There are two full blocks on either side of our sumptuous king bed. It's only 13" wider than our old duvet, but makes a big difference. No more pulling on the ceiling! slim. I wore hombys during our first real cold front of the season and kept us warm without much weight. I think it will work well for our air-conditioned summer too. The only reason I took off a star is that some of the squares have a little less padding than others, but having almost given up trying to find an affordable full size comforter I'm pretty happy with it so far!
