1.8V TTL works very well.
I bought this to fix my Kindle Voyage as the Kindle UART runs on 1.8V TTL. Compared to my other serial adapters, NO driver is required. My M1 MBP runs macOS Big Sur. By the way, my Kindle was successfully repaired and the correct serial number setting is 115200/N/8/1
