Review on πŸ”’ Meross Stable Connectivity Mediatek Domination by Aaron Cruz

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Terrible software for garbage.

Another cheap junk product from Revain. First, the app that requires it is terrible. It's fine if you want to use Google or Alexa. That is, if you can get them to work. Half the time trying to set up the device, the app freezes when switching Wi-Fi connections. Then when you magically pass that part. Do not use a WiFi password that is longer than 6 characters, as the device will then require a firmware update that actually does not exist. I say this because it claims to update the firmware and it will take up to two minutes. It does not matter. It just spins and spins. I then changed my wifi password just in case and got it working. I then thought maybe it would be easier to update the firmware. No, you go to firmware updates in the application and NOTHING shows up there. Nothing. Nice blank page. So if you don't have security on your wifi this is a great device and it seems to work pretty well. Or wait, no, when the device is off it makes this horrible ringing/hissing non-stop. I hope you don't leave this plugged into a lamp in the room you're watching TV in because the noise is unbearable.

Pros
  • Reliable connection: Same chipset vendor as Amazon Echo. Meross smart plugs work with Mediatek Iot chipset, which provides the chipset for the Amazon Echo smart speaker. The powerful chipset makes Meross Wi-Fi connectors much better than others. Can offer longer Wi-Fi connection range and slower disconnect rates than most of its competitors.
Cons
  • Socket required
