Review on Scuba Choice Diving Stainless Backplate by Anil Jaimes

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Steel plate with sharp edges. May require a change.

I've done 20 dives with the backplate and it performs as expected. However, it turns out that at the lower cost, the manufacturing process skips a few steps one would expect from a more expensive record. What I want to emphasize is that the edges remain sharp. By no means do I mean a safety problem, but rather a wear and tear problem. What I noticed is that the seat belts were starting to wear out. After posting a tip on how to avoid this, I was told that with backgrounds from other manufacturers, the edges often remain sharp. I took a small sanding tool to the edge and smoothed it out. I'm going to work around the outer edge, but as you can see there are sharp edges all over the place. I'm concerned about all the points where the straps go through this thing and I'm hoping I don't have to take the strap off and sand down every corner. Just be careful and keep an eye on it after a few dives. Otherwise it is a steel plate. . It's not designed to do more than act like a solid piece of steel.
