I ordered this unit on a whim, not expecting much. I just needed a way to easily record thoughts and observations. it and then just push the button. The recorder starts automatically when you start speaking and turns off automatically after a few seconds of silence. There is a hole at the end through which you can thread a necklace and wear it around your neck, which is very convenient for me. I was surprised that the recording sounded loud and clear and you didn't have to put it to your mouth. The only semi-minus for me is that the SD card is difficult to insert or remove. If you don't have nails, this could be a problem. But overall, for my simple use, this gadget works great. As I said, I only used it for my private dictation. I don't know how that would work in a meeting or in a classroom. Oh, and I found out through trial and error that the device needs to be in the "ON" position to charge.
