Product will not install with parts provided.

The product description checked all the boxes I was looking for, so I was disappointed with all the issues during my installation.I was replacing older units, so no new construction was needed. I unscrewed the old lights and tried to install the new units into the existing electrical boxes. When I tried to screw the light into place, I noticed my old screw would be short, so I pulled the longer screw out of the box. Unfortunately, it was much smaller in thickness, so I also had to replace the metal bracket and use one that came with the unit. After putting it in place, the unit still couldn't be screwed in. The bolt was 2 inches long and needed to be at least 2 1/4. So, I went to Home Depot and bought "#10-32 x 2-1/2 in. Combo Round Head Stainless Steel Machine Screw (2-Pack)" to finish the install. The screw did fit and worked to help complete the installation. The other issues or complaints. The metal bracket doesn't have much open space to push everything back into the electrical box. There is room in the back of the light to stuff everything into it, but it would be cleaner not to do that. The wire nuts that came with the light weren't big enough for the outdoor-rated electrical lines. Again, it was a replacement, so I used the old ones. The adjustments for the lights require an Alan key; not a huge issue, but it would have been easier to stick with a regular Phillips screw. The second light was missing the foam gasket. The lights themselves are bright enough and did provide the coverage I was looking for. It just won't be a 5-minute install like it should have been since it was replacing a standard halogen security floodlight.

Pros
  • None
Cons
  • The color of the light is too harsh for some aesthetics
