It just won't hold up

I don't write many reviews but my disappointment with this line of products led me here. In September 2018 we bought a $520 kit plus an additional $130 collar. It seemed to work fine for several months. We keep our 2 dogs in a 80 x 100 kennel during the day while we work. This system was only used when we were at home and just wanted to let them out without fear of them jumping over the chain link fence and running around. So like I said, this worked great for this use for a while. then in May 2019 8 months later. We found that one of the pieces had come loose from the collar. I thought the dogs were playing hard and just bought a replacement for another $130. . that's $780 for those who follow. Then my Akita realized that if she ran fast, she could just run past the fence. and yes I have already doubled the wire path to 4ft. and we turned her collar up for sensitivity. On March 21st, when we discovered that her collar was broken, I replaced it with this $170 Extreme Duty collar. fast approaching $1,000 now! And then on May 21st the first replacement I had ordered on May 19th died and I bought a DIFFERENT collar for $140. Now I have just under $1,100 on this part time system and now on a collar I bought in March of this year. I just stopped 5 months ago. it just flashes, we change the batteries and nothing. Tried changing the batteries with another collar, everything works. tried to reset the ECU NOTHING! We tried to return and Revain replied that we should have paid more and bought an extended warranty. Looking back now I see that with the story, I probably should have just bought it but damn it. I switched to a $500 system and it had only been 2 1/2 years! I cut my losses and give up this system. I would say if you have a quiet dog and only have 1 dog this might work for you. probably no. I still don't know why 2 collars stopped working. But they just don't last. The idea is great, but the quality is too expensive when you have to change collars every 9-12 months.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
