I bought this to replace a failed gas valve; the pilot light does not burn at first; The first guess was a thermocouple, but the pilot failed anyway; then I bought this valve to replace the old valve; now my oven works fine; I did it myself without calling an HVAC specialist; Just be careful with the following: - Use pipe thread lubricant to ensure tightness - The thermocouple should be replaced at the same time (I bought it here on Amazon for about $9) - Check for a leak after installation before installing you ignite the pilot
