I took this camera to Bumbershoot to shoot The Weakerthans (indoors) and Del Tha Funky Homosapien (outdoors) and it held up pretty well. I got pretty close to The Weakerthans and was able to get some good shots with the night setting and flash off. The typical concert lighting for an indoor show didn't ruin the images so the shots came out pretty good. When I handed the camera to Del, I was right in front of him and able to capture him in action. Some of the photos were blurry because he was moving so fast, but I don't think the camera could do much better if it wasn't an expensive ultra-fast shutter camera. and these types of cameras are usually banned in concert halls unless you have a special press pass. Another downside is the large screen on the back. While this gives you a really good idea of what you're going to photograph, I'm always afraid of scratching it when I put my camera in my pocket. It hasn't happened yet, but I'll be careful. Conclusion: + Good to take with you to trade fairs, as it is small enough for your pocket and powerful enough for good photos. + The battery life is very good compared to my digital camera which uses AA batteries. At the end of the day, I just plug the battery into the outlet until the green light goes out. Very fast shutter speed, this camera is not for you. Here's what I'm talking about in terms of shutter speed for a beginner photographer: [.] If you're interested in capturing moving subjects without blur, consider DSLRs. I just bought it because it's cheap. For Parents/Grandparents/Guardians/Siblings: This would be a good Christmas gift for teenagers going to live music. It fits nicely in a small purse or pocket, making it easy to hide when not allowed inside. It's light and compact so you can easily take it with you during a 4-hour show, and it's also unnoticeable when you turn off the flash. It's also far better than the cell phone cameras that kids use with disappointing results.
