Love love love - Stoves and Fireplaces

We have an old house from the 1940's. There are a couple of fireplaces, but one cannot be used. Eventually it was damaged and covered with white-painted wood with a white coat. We discussed removing the tree and doing any masonry work there as we knew it was going to be an expensive project. Because the wood was of excellent quality it didn't look bad and since it wasn't a real living room we put the whole project on hold. However, when I saw this fireplace recently, I realized that we could have our fireplace without redoing all of the brickwork there. This is an amazing fireplace! I love it. I'm so excited! It's not a real flame like a gas fireplace, but I don't care - it looks amazing, adds to the atmosphere and may put off this big project forever. My husband found the center of the wood and drew a rectangle the size of this chimney behind the lip. He used a mini portable circular saw to cut the wood, was able to build a base to support the fireplace at the level of the wood opening and was able to install it. We do NOT have an outlet inside the fireplace so he drilled a small hole in the side of the wood and fed the cord through. We had to use a short extension cord to get to the outlet, but we have a few items at the bottom of the fireplace (where you can put fireplace tools, etc.) that hide the small hole. It's awesome. The remote control is AWESOME. The heat is great - it looks AWESOME. We have the ability to use heat or just the light of fire, which is awesome as well. I like it. Fully recommended.
