These spools aren't flimsy, which is a plus, but I think the slots you thread the ends into are too wide -- much wider than the thickness of the string, so don't count all that remains is almost gone. My carefully wrapped spools were on their way to untangling and tangling. My solution was to cut a new slot between them where I now tuck the ends, but if you were planning on using that space to mark your coils the new slot will get in the way. The first spools I ever bought came from a craft store and they had perfect, narrow slots that still hold the first threads I wound. I wish I could remember this brand so I can buy it again
