Review on πŸ‘ž Carhartt CMW6175: 6 Inch Waterproof Wedge Men's Shoes for Work & Safety by Brandon Baird

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Strange shoe. If I wanted red.

An incomprehensible boot, sure. If I wanted to splurge on Red Wings or any other well-known brands in the $300-$350 range, I would buy them. These are semi-serious work boots in the $150 range. If you are a shoe lover then this is not for you. Wearing at home and shopping, good ankle support at age 66 is close to perfect. I recently retired and don't need anything more durable than these. I only bought them for two reasons. Better grip than sneakers and the hipster look that seems so popular. If I get 3-4 years of good comfortable service from them and wear them an average of 3-4 hours a day then these boots are money well spent. If they disappoint or exceed my expectations, I'll mention it here in an update. Can't wait for Red Wings or other commonly resold $40 a year premium boots. Their crepe soles no longer serve the IME. Pros of boots: Extremely comfortable. The leather is soft but not soft and is easy to put on and take off as the leather flexes a bit. Fits well in the top of the bow. Width corresponds to the norm, nothing sticks and does not slip. The heel cup and arch will become comfortable after wearing about 5 times. There is enough space in the toe area, but at the same time casual. Cons: Size 13 runs a bit large. Although I'm close, the thicker toe box makes them perfect. The summary is simple, these boots fit great, are comfortable after a few weeks and look great now that I'm retired at a reasonable price. Just as important as strength in my new life. Update 05/23/2021: I've been wearing them for 6 months and about 150 hours now. Still my pick for daytime wear. These are very comfortable boots. The soles show only slight signs of wear and have not yet had to be polished. Minor abrasions are erased well with my kiwi horsehair brush. The skin is still soft and supple, but well supported. These boots get lots of compliments. Find out.

Pros
  • The shin measures about the ankle from the arch of the foot
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
