Type of review

I don't know if the mns 9 would have fit better, but the 10 is a bit big, and after the insulation packs down a bit I may be sloshing in them. I wear a mns 9.5, but they said order up. It used to be that the oriental sizes were way small, now it seems they have swung too far the other way. Swung way the other way or Feng Shui, it doesn't matter, just make them to the approximate US size. These things make my feet look huge, almost comical. Bozo's shoes weren't much smaller. So yeah, they will…

Pros
  • Very warm I wear them all the time in the snow lol or should I say when it snows. They are warm
Cons
  • The boots aren't great for cold weather or extreme temperatures

Did not last one winter season

I purchased these boots for my dad in October because he had a pair previously that lasted him 6 years and he loved them. I'm not sure if these are made somewhere else, but the rubber part towards the top of the foot is already starting to crack at the creases. My dad has only worn these a handful of times this winter. Unfortunately, the order is older than 30 days so we are no longer able to return these. And calling Ebay customer support was not helpful at all! These boots are comfortable but

Pros
  • Just what I needed.
Cons
  • The boots are too heavy to wear for extended periods of time

Garbage like Sorrel Caribous!

Update: As mentioned in my original review I've had problems with Sorrel Caribou boots rubber lowers cracking at the flex point right behind my toes. The Northside Back Country boots have the same issue and cracked in 5 months. Don't buy them they're garbage like Sorrels!I bought these because Sorrel Caribou's that are currently being sold are throw away garbage since the rubber used for the lower boot cracks after 2-3 winters of use. I wear size 9 shoes and bought this boot in the same size &…

Pros
  • Adjustable lacing system to fit any foot shape
Cons
  • The boots are not very stylish and may not be suitable for urban settings

Useful for deep snow

We had another 30 inch snowfall two weeks ago, and we could not find my old winter boots. I'll use these boots when we receive deep snow -- somthing that happens fairly often in our area. I am highly unlikely to wear them all day. Although the size is somewhat large, I doubt that the next smaller size would fit me. I'll wear two pairs of socks when I use the boots. I cannot assess them for extended wear -- I do not wear snow boots for more than digging out from deep snow.

Pros
  • Available in various colors to suit personal style
Cons
  • They may not provide enough support for extended backpacking trips

Decent Value - my new review

These boots are a good value. The waterproofing is good and handles ankle-deep slush without leaking. The size is large compared with normal shoes. I'm a pretty standard 13D, I wear a size 13 most of the time and always in Nike shoes. I ordered a size 12 after looking at the reviews and this fit with plenty of room for toe wiggle and for thick winter socks. The boots were warm without overheating on a 30-degree day in the snow. The grip was good in snow and average on ice.

Pros
  • Versatile footwear suitable for any outdoor activity
Cons
  • The boots may rub against the ankle, causing discomfort

Awesome Pack Boots for my opinion

Contrary to what some of the reviews state here, these boots are just great! Using them here in Minnesota for when I go out to blow snow among other things. I bought a size larger than what I take in order to wear thermal socks and they’re just right with or without the socks. The liners are perfect and don’t pull out of the boot when you remove the boots. They are very warm and can be worn all day. I’m so glad I chose these and now I wish I had a spare pair! For those that complain, these are…

Pros
  • Suitable for all levels of hiking experience
Cons
  • They are hard to adjust for people with different foot shapes

Good solid snow boot

Husband was skeptical because didn't think they looked manly enough but I talked him into them, as I have the female version for 3 winters now and they're the best snow boots I've ever had. Very durable, warm, and great grip in snow. Also waterproof. Now that he's tried them on and worn them, he says they look much better in person and he really likes them. Says they're very warm, comfortable -- feels like you bounce when you walk. Also, the tongue (which is a thick, real piece of leather) is…

Pros
  • Withstands harsh outdoor conditions
Cons
  • They don't offer much arch support, which can be uncomfortable for those with flat feet

Extremely narrow toe box :(

I owned a pair of the original Northside "Balance Man" boots, almost identical to these, which were purchased over 10 years ago. They were fantastic, faithful boots for over a decade of regular use before they developed a hole in the outsole. I was pumped to find them here and excited for my new pair to arrive in time for winter only to find that the new design is essentially the same except for the toe box went from extra wide (it was very wide before, wider than any other shoes or boots I've…

Pros
  • Elevated heel for improved stability on the trail
Cons
  • The boots may be prone to leaking in certain areas

Frankenstein Boots: my feedback

ok, so yes they are warm, and my feet didn't get wet but they are big. I actually think i could have went down a size. They kind of look like frankenstein boots when i have them on. They are heavy as well. If i was looking for boots again i wouldn't get these. 3 stars because they are warm and they did keep my feet dry the two times i wore them this winter but for looking like frankenstein be being really heavy i have to take away. Over all not fully pleased enough to say i like them, only that

Pros
  • Lightweight design reduces fatigue during hikes
Cons
  • The boots may not fit well with orthotic inserts

Bought a 10 and really happy that i did

I read other reviews about these boots running large. I normally can wear an 11 or 11.5 shoe. Bought a 10 and really happy that i did. They are still kinda large, not too large but they are not crowding my toes at all. Could easier wear a second pair of heavy socks if i needed. The Leather is nice and supple, rubber is thick and doing a great job. I can wear them all day at work when out shoveling snow and i have no pain or discomfort. Glad i went with these. Will report back at the end of this

Pros
  • Provides excellent shock absorption
Cons
  • They can be difficult to break in for people with sensitive feet

Size chart didn't work for me.

The size chart said a 10" foot is a size 8 boot. I wear a size 10 shoe. I think a size 9 would have worked. I read reviews that said the boots are big and I foun that to be true as well. I'm 6'2", 235 lbs and the boots were big and heavy. Being heavy wasn't a problem for me but there's a lot of room in the boot. I Think this boot will be good for some and not so much for others.

Pros
  • Available in various sizes to fit any foot
Cons
  • The insoles of the boots are not very cushioned, which can be uncomfortable for long hikes

the leather upper is not super stiff like boots

I haven't had the chance to test these out in really in weather yet so this is about fit and quality. The boots seem to be put together well, the leather upper is not super stiff like boots. I like the removable felt liners. The fit seems a little small to me. I normally wear a size 11 and after reading other reviews that is what I ordered. The width of the boots is good and what you would expect for a boot. The length is a little short for the size it seems. I think I will still be able to get

Pros
  • Waterproof leather design for added durability
Cons
  • The boots may not provide enough support for people with heavy frames

Buy one size smaller than normal-very heavy boot

This boot runs large. I'd say buy one size smaller and if you have a narrow foot, forget it. its a wide boot but not bad for little bit larger than normal or a wide foot. They are really heavy. not for wearing all day , i wouldn't think. but they seem to be ok for the price.I'm skeptical as to how long they will last, however, i had purchased columbia boots for a lot more money and they fell apart. So i guess its just a roll of the dice. one suggestion is to put a sole pad in the bottom, (like…

Pros
  • Waterproof design keeps feet dry and comfortable
Cons
  • The waterproof sealant may wear off after repeated use

Fit as expected good for me

The boot sizing is normal. I wear a shoe size anywhere from 9.5 to 11.0 depending on shoe manufacturer. I ordered a size 10.0 in this boot and it fits perfect. The boot will be great for west MI winters. The upper is very soft, which is the only reason I took away a star. I expected the upper to be a bit thicker and more rigid. Nothing that would push me to pay the extra money for the other big name brands.

Pros
  • Suitable for both casual and extreme outdoor activities
Cons
  • The boots do not have any reflective features, which can be dangerous in low light environments

A little too narrow for me

They appear and feel like a good boot good materials nice lining but my feet are a little funny and I could not make them fit right without getting a blister so I had to return them. Would buy them again if they had a double e or 4 e version of the boot

Pros
  • Offers superior traction on various terrains
Cons
  • They can be difficult to break in and may cause discomfort initially

I like the boots best in my review

I like the boots. They are wider than I expected, and I have a wide foot. I always wear the EE in running shoes. I am usually a 11 and I bought 12's to allow for thick socks and I do kind of swim in them. It seems like an 11 would have been just fine.I mostly bought them to keep by the back door to slip into when I take my 11 month old German Shepard puppy out to play - which is ALL the time and in any weather! They serve that purpose just fine - keeping my feet nice and warm and dry. For $60…

Pros
  • Breathable mesh lining for added comfort
Cons
  • They do not allow for much flexibility in the toes

Great winter boot! best in my review

Great boot ! Warm ,water proof , nice size , not tight so you can wear thick socks with them . A bit heavy if your not used to a boot like this . super fast shipping ! 👍🏼👍🏼

Pros
  • Waterproof and breathable at the same time
Cons
  • The boots may not be suitable for those with wide or narrow calves

Revainrating 4 out of 5

size too big for my opinion

The boot was fine. It was too big. Had bought boots size 12 that were too small. Thought the 13 would work. Do you think your 12 would worj?

Pros
  • Snow Boots
Cons
  • They may not be available in a variety of colors, limiting customer choice

Sizes run huge, as others have stated.

I like these a lot, but as others have noted they are MASSIVE. I'm generally a comfortable 11 that feels cramped-to-impossible in a 10.5, but I was swimming in these 11s. Ordered a pair of 10s to compared and they're snug but fine. I don't know if the idea is that you'd be wearing some kind of gigantic socks with them, but I didn't have a pair of socks that made the 10s ill-fitting. It'd be a herculean task to make those 11s work.Other than the sizing? Great.

Pros
  • Northside
Cons
  • They are not very breathable and can make feet feel hot and uncomfortable
