In general, it is difficult to review dietary supplements and know if any supposed benefits are "in my head" or if they are real physiological effects. Over the past two years I've come to love KOS products, especially mushroom and herb powders that I can add to my morning smoothie made from frozen fruit or food. I admit to being skeptical about using CLA as an effective weight management tool. The results of the studies I've read about CLA have been mixed, but mostly they say the benefits are less impressive than advertised. However, my experience with this CLA supplement so far has been moderately positive. I'm less likely to feel hungry, and even though I'm on the same diet, I'm probably eating less. Unfortunately KOS doesn't list the CLA type in this product (at least I couldn't find it). The two types I've read about in research (9-CLA and 10-CLA) are both extracted from safflower oil and each have a different physiological effect. For example, 10-CLA can impair insulin resistance and even lead to type 2 diabetes. As such, I use this product with caution and monitor factors other than weight loss and overall energy levels.
