I bought this camera solely to monitor a trailer that we are going to tow with a large moving truck (also called a U-Haul). They didn't connect it to the reverse light, they connected it directly to the cigarette lighter and left it on all the time. We mounted it slightly higher than the license plate for better rear visibility. It worked great. I had to buy a separate cord extension to get it to the back of a moving truck. The picture was very clear and sharp. I was very happy with this purchase.
