Review on Yongnuo YN50MM F1.8 II AF/MF 0.35M Focus Distance Standard Prime Lens for Canon EF Mount EOS Cameras 5D Mark IV, 1DX Mark I, 200D Mark II, 850D, 7D, and 6D Mark II - Black by Reza Shoecraft

Slow autofocus and poor resolution

I don't recommend using it with 18MP and above. This is indeed a very soft lens. Also on 2.8. It's REALLY plastic and you can see the stitching where the glass meets the plastic, but it has a metal mount. AF is excruciatingly slow, sometimes taking up to 3-4 seconds to focus, and it's not as sharp as the Canon 50mm f/1.8 (no matter who you're talking to, this lens is at least twice as f/1.8 soft). But hey, if you're not a pro and want a cheap prime lens to start with, it doesn't get much better.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • So-so
