Couldn't beat the price.

Before I installed them I was a little apprehensive, I have a 2005 Silverado LT and have read horror stories about springs causing problems and had fun getting spring compressors. No doubt I could take them to a local place and they would install them for me for a reasonable price. but i love the challenge. However, I watched a few videos and read a few articles and thought it was pretty easy. I undid the grommets, jacked up the truck, carefully jacked up the arms to take the pressure off the spring, removed the front wheels, sprayed the bolts with a liquid wrench. I then took some adjustable pliers and attached them to the top of the old shock (there's room for that) and used a wrench to unscrew the nut on top until I could turn the nut on my own. I loosened the two screws under the bottom plate and pulled out, right after that the shock literally fell out, there is more than enough room to pull the old one out and put the new one in. After switching over I found that my front wheels were completely worn out, they were compressed but it took about 45 minutes for them to pull back so it was clear that this was one of the reasons for several other problems I was having viz premature wear the traction of the steering tips and uneven tread wear. I drove 10 minutes after replacing the rear ones too and what's the difference. I could spend on "efficient" dampers and get a firmer ride, but I mostly work as a freeway driver. So I couldn't justify the extra effort. I have no regrets and neither should you. If you need something to work with, this will give you what you need.

Pros
  • Shock absorber
Cons
  • Communication with seller
