Review on 📸 Bower SFD728C: Enhancing Canon E-TTL II with TTL Autofocus Flash by Alan Massey

As other reviewers have pointed out, this isn't the $200 Canon equivalent, it's a plastic cover. But if you take it out to photograph the dog and grandkids at home, it should do the job just fine. 99% of the time I use it to bounce light off the ceiling to bring more natural light into my home. It also seems to have a decent range, so I'm looking forward to trying it out at my next wedding where the lights are dimmed and you can't get that close to the happy couple. If you are a professional photographer or shooting on safari, you may need something more permanent. However, if you just want a full-featured, pivoting, and compatible external flash that will do lens autofocus with your Canon DSLR (I have the T3, Canon's lowest-end DSLR) then this should be it. May 4th, 2013 Update: I now have the ability to really use the flash. The plastic base with the locking wheel didn't cause any problems, the flash stays in place. It seems to accurately assess how much light to transmit when used directly, with no reflection, I'm happy with that result. Although I haven't tested it in a large, dimly lit room to see if it can get the job done. Don't use it in bright places with the new CLF energy-saving bulbs, where the flash is hardly needed. I was reflecting the light from a 5 bulb chandelier and all my photos turned very yellow and I had to Photoshop each one to bring back the natural look. After that I did a test and not opening the flash head or using the built-in flash instead would give better results in this environment.
