I used real silver sheet to decorate the frame of the mirror. I bought them first because they were listed as single sheets and then because of the cost. I needed a few more sheets to complete my project, so I bought a pack of Martha Stewart at my local craft store. Doesn't matter. Since my frame was very detailed, I preferred to use loose sheets of paper to push the silver deep into nooks and crannies. Martha Stewart brand sheets have a silver leaf glued to the paper and must be rubbed gently to transfer the silver leaf. needless to say that if your project is not completely flat and smooth, a lot of waste is produced. Worth every penny! And the result is a very shiny silver.
