The distance between two o-ring sections is the same as on longer barrels. As shown in the pictures, one of the two sections protrudes beyond the end of the keg, so the tapered end of the red cap cannot be screwed in to center the tube in the keg. You can turn the red cap back and slide it down the barrel, but that doesn't necessarily center the tube as intended.
