Bought these reins specifically for two reasons; they are synthetic, which makes them easy to clean and maintain. This is a great opportunity for trails, they can get wet or dirty and you can just wipe them down. In contrast to leather, they do not have to be broken in, they are smooth and cuddly. The second reason I chose these reins is the latigo. I prefer it to Chicago gears on the trail. I've seen a few instances of Chicago screws falling out, which can be dangerous, and most people don't have an extra tool and screwdriver with them. Happy with the reins, especially at this price.
