Self sealing hoses are a good idea but TERRIBLE in practice! I don't recommend buying it if you've never changed handsets before. When you buy them, do not inflate them or try to deflate them. When deflated, the self-sealer seals the stem, and thereafter no air can enter or exit. Basically, you have a way to inflate the tubes without getting pinched between the tire and rim. When I change the tube, I usually inflate it almost completely and check to see if it's pinched. Then I blow off the air completely and inflate it again to the final pressure. With these self-sealing hoses you can only add air to the system.
