I've been using convection ovens for 30 years. For me, the ones that use a heating element instead of a halogen bulb last the longest, but unfortunately that's been the design trend of the last 15 years. Although halogen lamps heat the air faster, they also burn out for about a month. That's the beauty of this unit. Instead of a lamp with a thin heating element, this device replaces it with a thick metal rod. Admittedly, this makes cooking slower, but MUCH more thorough when it comes to small items like french fries, breaded mushrooms, and onion rings. Also a plus is that the fan speed has been reduced due to the "wind force" as with many other convection ovens I've had such thin foods I'm trying to fry like pepper strips, zucchini and broccoli don't crunch. sticking to the walls or bottom of the cooking bowl. Overall, I'm really excited about this device and can only recommend it.
