Review on Dual Outlet Sink Top Air Switch Kit With Short Brushed Button For Easy On/Off Control Of Garbage Disposals by James Prizgint

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Almost started an electrical fire, could have burned the house down!

Tonight I heard a funny noise in the kitchen, walked in, and the garbage disposal had turned itself on! I pushed the air switch, several times, and it would not turn off. Smoke was billowing out from under the sink, I unplugged it to turn it off. The power converter was so hot it was melting its' insides & the electrical outlet's plastic cover. I think water got into the air switch - which then flowed down to the power converter / outlet. We've opened the power converter's back and the inside is completely smoldering and toast. I still don't understand how it turned itself on. What if we had not been home, or been asleep? I am completely freaked out by the very real danger this simple set up put us in. And I still can't get the smoking plastic taste out of my mouth. I bought / installed this barely a year ago - buyer beware - and I guess store your fire extinguisher someplace other than under your kitchen sink
