I managed to assemble it quite easily, although I threw away the regular screwdriver and used more strength ;) The stool is very stable even with my 18-month-old climbing son. I'm very happy with the purchase and I think the bar, which according to reviews was cumbersome, really helps them not to fall backwards. It can pop out from under it as usual, or I can lift it from the top so we don't even use the detachable bar anyway, but we think it's a nice feature. My son likes to thrash his eyeballs and turn them up and down again and he likes to snack or drink on the counter and he can take it himself.
