The ruffles are amazing. I bought these boots because I thought they would be good in the snow (misread the description). They are not designed for snow. They are designed for cold temperatures, snowmelt, etc. My dog loves them (brought them on a hike to get used to them) and they help protect his feet in the snow. However, the short ones unbutton because the snow gets on the velcro. That's why Ruffwear has models that are designed for the snow. However, they replaced the boots we lost in the snow because they came off and gave me a discount for buying snow boots! Such a great company! I will buy a uniform from them again. Not only do they slide in the snow, they fit well, stay in the snow and are very well constructed.
