I tried to install a phone holder that attaches to your car's air vent but ended up breaking the ribs. I don't know, maybe the age of my car and being in the Arizona sun weakened the vents, but after a few unsuccessful attempts I realized my vents weren't an option. This actually works very well. You place it in the cup holder and then twist the giant nut until the three flared legs are wedged into the sides. The result is quite firm, although I had to re-tighten several times. Doesn't jump as hard as I thought. But overall I am very happy with this phone holder.
