Purchase a genuine Ross-Tech cable instead.

Buy a genuine Ross-Tech cable with unlimited VIN access instead of a cheap one. Yes, the cheap one works for what it costs; Essentially, however, you can't do anything with VCDS 409.1 that you couldn't do with a regular OBD-2 scanner. Heck, Donald's Bluetooth OBD-2, which I bought for $5, combined with the app I spent $5 on, is way, way more efficient than that cable and VCDS 409.1. On the other hand, this cable is good for scanning in Bosch ME. 7 ECM architecture for Windows/Linux environment, that's all.
