You get what you pay for and I didn't want to spend more than $100 on shoes so my sons can keep training in the off-season. The first impression was that the width of the shoe was very narrow. He had to loosen the laces completely to get an acceptable width. The outside of the shoe is covered in plastic which I don't think will last long. I still prefer Aggressor or Aggressor-2 (also from ASICS) for competition. Compared to other shoes he's tried, they're just 'ok', but they're great for training. EDIT 6/3/14: I've only been wearing the shoes for a week and the seams have already unraveled over my right little finger. Downgraded to 2 stars.
