Last week I used this Amcrest webcam as my second webcam to stream and record during iRacing races. My other webcam is the Logitech C920 and I will use it to compare the quality of the Amcrest webcam. I think this is a fair comparison as the two webcams were in the same price range (pre-Corona) and were used at the same time and in the same light. As a side note, I use OBS as the capture/streaming software for both my webcams and both webcams are downscaled to picture-in-picture style. Because the images are scaled down, poor lighting obscures many of the minor imperfections in the video feeds from both webcams. The Amcrest webcam sits well on my curved monitor and doesn't vibrate when I move. It comes with a standard camera mounting hole for tripods or brackets. I briefly tested this attachment point and it works well. The camera has a not too bright red/green LED and comes with a protective cover. Both are nice additions that Logitech doesn't have. Webcam Installation and Quality Installing the Amcrest webcam was a plug and play experience with Windows 10. Windows understood it straight away and I started using it with OBS right away. The Amcrest webcam did not come with software like the Logitech webcam. This didn't bother me as I also don't use Logitech software when using OBS for recording and/or streaming. The instructions that came with the package were general and could have been better. For example, the instructions mentioned a button on the webcam to pause recording, but this model didn't have it. My suggestion would be to have the included guide explain how each slider works in the camera settings and how to adjust them for the best quality. I wish more sliders were automatic as I'm using natural light which can change over time while streaming. The only thing this webcam didn't do well was the low light video quality, but I don't currently know of any camera in this price range that excels in this area. In the same low light, the Logitech c920 outperformed the Amcrest. There was some noise in the picture in medium lighting, but it's not noticeable with my picture-in-picture shooting/transmission style. In bright light, the Amcrest webcam was almost at the same quality level as the Logitech. I didn't notice that the colors were slightly different on the Amcrest until I placed the image next to the Logitech webcam. All light tests were performed with default settings on both cameras. I don't use my webcam's microphone when recording or streaming because I play the audio output through my computer's speakers. When testing the Amcrest webcam, it picked up the faintest sounds, such as: B. the clicking of paddles on the steering wheel. I made a test recording of my conversation at a normal volume and my voice became clear. The webcam picked up a lot of background noise from my air purifier and air conditioner. I was able to filter out this noise in OBS.
